Film #24: The Last Shift
1.5 out of 5 stars
Where to start…? A soli premise (ghosts from the past haunt a decommissioned police station) is sullied by an unknowing (simple police protocols are ignored or cast aside entirely) and contrived (WILD coincidences about) script which was co-written by Anthony DiBlasi (DREAD, CASSADAGA). The film stars Juliana Harkavy (DOLPHIN TALE) as one of the dumbest protagonists in cinema. Soon, what was once a promising premise devolves into a series of “jump scares” and “no you see ‘em, now you don’t” moments. And so, by the time the film careens into its third act, the audience simply couldn’t care less. Contrived, poorly staged, and ineptly acted, LAST SHIFT is something you could easily skip.
