Film #229: FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE SPACE MONSTER
Frankenstein Meets The Space Monster
2 out of 5 stars
Ultra cheesy sci-fi epic starring James Karen (RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD). A spaceship full of aliens attempts to colonize Earth and use our planet’s women as “breeding stock.” Led by an “Uncle Fester with elf ears” commander and a Red Witch-look-alike, the villains have nothing standing in their way. However, a cyborg astronaut (who is injured after having his ship shot down by the aliens) has his memories erased and the only thing he can recall is his mission to “Save the world.” Silly? You bet it is. This is by no means a good “film.“ However, mid-‘60s sci-fi fans and appreciators of the “so bad it’s good” school of filmmaking will love this. Also, there’s plenty of kitschy ‘60’s era pop music to give the shenanigans atmosphere. So, crack a cold one and spark your favorite herb up and you just might have a lot of fun with this one.
