Film #22: PLOT OF FEAR aka E TANTA PAURA
Plot of Fear (aka E Tanta Paura)

MONDO CANE & BLACK BELLY OF THE TARANTULA director, Paolo Cavara brings us this latter era giallo from 1976 starring Michele Placido (THE PYJAMA CASE GIRL), Tom Skerritt, and Eli Wallach. The plot is a meandering affair about a group of diamond smugglers/sexual adventurers who are being knocked off because of their involvement in a prostitute’s death. I think. The whole thing is very confusing, but there is enough Post- Summer Of Love / Pre-AIDS coupling and nudity to keep the viewer’s mind off how unfocused it all is. Still, the film works as an example of sexual attitudes of the time and as an example of a D-grade giallo. Rentable for giallo connoisseurs and early ‘70s aficionados, but not much else.
