Film #6: XOMBIE: DEAD ON ARRIVAL
Xombie: Dead on Arrival
3 out of 5 stars
Director James Farr creates this animated featurette (run-time is roughly 50 minutes) culled from a series of web episodes about Zoe, a young, living girl lost in a zombie-infested world. She is championed by Dirge, a “zombie variant” who, despite being one of the reanimated dead, has managed to retain not only his intellect, but his humanity. The animation style is crude, but stylized (imagine the BEETLEJUICE cartoon meets Tim Burton) and the story is just different enough to be compelling. Fun, spooky, and worth a look-see.
