Film #48: MADHOUSE
2 out of 5 stars
A slapdash pseudo-giallo by BEYOND THE DOOR's Ovidio G. Assonitis. Cookie cutter characters with paper thin motivations inhabit the story (which is decidedly bloodless) and no one has a good time. Most of the violence is done by a big dog - or rather a big, rubber dog head - and the blood looks a lot like weak cherry Koolaid. Cinematographer, Roberto Piazzoli (STARCRASH) does his best to make things look good, but the script is a bigger dog than the rubber one. Oh, and the score is by Riz Ortolani (CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST). Rent something - ANYTHING - other than this one, kids.
