Ok, I’ll admit it. I was one of those folks who is woefully uneducated when it comes to Paul Naschy. I mean, I’d seen ROJO SANGRE and BLUE EYES FOR A BROKEN DOLL, a few others... but not much else. Since I’m a geek, I made it a resolution to bring myself up to speed a bit more and watch more Naschy. Which brings us to LA ORGIA DE LOS MUERTOS aka THE HANGING WOMAN which is sort of a Gothic murder mystery meets a Hammer film. The acting is solid and the walking dead are pretty creepy. The plot is a little over-complicated, but it moves quickly and there’s always enough to hold a viewer’s interest until the next cool bit. However, the Troma transfer I saw is abysmal, but it does come with a weird little flick included called THE SWEET SOUND OF DEATH starring HANGING WOMAN’s co-star, Dianik Zurokowska. SWEET SOUND is a little arty, but HANGING WOMAN is good, clean fun.
