Film #97: GROTESQUE

Shot on HD and directed by Koji Shiraishi (CARVED, THE SLIT-MOUTHED WOMAN), this Japanese film is a purely voyeuristic tromp through the land of physical brutality and emotional torture for no other reasonthat to titillate the viewer. It is torture porn and not much else. There are one or two moments of interesting character embellishment here, but anything like that gets summarily set aside in favor of, for example, a women getting her nipples scissored-off and a man having his testicle nailed to a board. If that sort of thing interests you, then GROTESQUE is right up your alley. For more refined tastes… rent something else.
