Film #150: THE KILLING
3 out of 5 stars
Another nostalgic rewatch. Told in a non-linear fashion, this heist film shows director Stanley Kubrick at his most methodical. With the way this thing is laid out, I can imagine Tarantino taking notes throughout it. Shot in beautiful B&W, this one's a masterpiece, man. The cast is pitch perfect (Sterling Hayden & Elisha Cook particularly) & the B&W transfer is crystal clear. I literally gasped aloud at the ending (which I won't go into for fear of ruining it). I'm not a big Kubrick fan, but I liked this a LOT and would recommend it to fans & non-fans alike.
