Film #206: THE UNDERTAKER AND HIS PALS
The Undertaker And His Pals
3 out of 5 stars
A nostalgic re-watch! With tongue planted firmly in cheek, we get to this little cannibalism flick from 1966. Never daring to take itself seriously, the film is a fun, at times racist (hey, it was the ‘60s), and silly tale of a greasy spoon restaurant that is killing young girls and serving them up as the Blue Plate Special. This is one of those films everyone has heard of, but few have ever actually seen… which is a pity because the movie is dopey (in that Herschell Gordon Lewis kind of way), but still funny. Yes, you’ll groan at some of the puns, but there is a palpable sense of darkly-tinged glee in the proceedings that makes it a hoot. Perfect for parties and MST3K nights with pals. Go in with your funny bone at the ready and you’ll have a good time.
