Film #190: INVISIBLE INVADERS / JOURNEY TO THE SEVENTH PLANET
Invisible Invaders / Journey To The Seventh Planet
3 out of 5 stars
An interesting Saturday B-Movie double feature both starring the legendary John Agar. The first film, INVISIBLE INVADERS, shows similarities to NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE… as weird as that sounds. The film is hampered by a miniscule budget and therefore suffers from an overabundance of plot exposition, but the reanimated dead are sort of cool looking and the film’s concept is interesting. Easily this is the best of these two films. As for JOURNEY TO THE SEVENTH PLANET… well, it’s terrible. With a muddled plot and the expectation of the audience mistaking Southern California for Uranus, there’s just too much goofy shit to allow the suspension of disbelief. Still… the disc is worth renting mostly for nostalgia’s sake.
