Film #216: 100 TEARS
1 out of 5 stars
Everybody is afraid of clowns, right? So how, with a clown as a serial killer, do you fuck up a premise so ripe with potential. Well, you put it in the hands of THESE guys (director Marcus Koch and writer Joe Davison). While the film does have a high body count (resplendent with watery fake blood and unconvincing rubbery viscera), the script it so, well, stupid… that it insults its genre by failing to live up to its basic ideal (to be scary). The acting is community theater quality. The direction… inept and uninformed. I watch a lot of crappy films and those all seem like BEN HUR compared to this steaming pile. One surprise was the film’s inclusion of the Voltaire song “When You’re Evil.” Why a talented guy like Voltaire let a song of his be used for this crap-fest is anybody’s guess. I only hope the check cashed. Anyway, 100 TEARS is shit - unscary, derivative, ‘badly-executed gore for gore’s sake” shit - and not worth the 90 minutes it took to watch it. Rent ANYTHING else!
