Film #234: GOOD HAIR
3 out of 5 stars
Chris Rock manages to make a documentary that is both informative and amusing… about hair. He uses his celebrity and position to take us, the viewer, into a world that many of us (ie, white folks) didn't even know existed. However, all the kidding aside, there's a sad aspect to the proceedings. The fact that some women are paying anywhere from $1,000 - $5,000 for a hair weave is stunning. Even odder is that the two voices of reason in the film are Rev. Al Sharpton & Ice T. The documentary is well made, insightful, and very amusing. Rock should make more of these types of films and less DOWN TO EARTHs & HEAD OF STATEs.
